7-15-19 waupun chicken ordinance

todayJuly 15, 2019

The Waupun Common Council is considering a new fee and permit structure to keep chickens in the city.   Under the city ordinance up to ten people  can apply to have up to four chickens.  Councilmember Jason Westphal proposed a $15 inspection fee, and $50 building permit for construction of a coop and caged space.   Fees vary from community to  community around the state.   Permits will be issued on a first-come, first served basis.  A waiting list will be kept if more than 10 people apply.  So far no one has applied.  The council is expected to give final approval at a July 29 meeting.
