7-25-19 fdl man charged in shooting incident rejects plea deal

todayJuly 25, 2019

A new trial date will be set after a Fond du Lac man charged in a shooting incident earlier this year rejected a plea deal.  Under the plea agreement, a charge  of attempted first degree intentional homicide against 25 year old Mohamed Elmhdati, would have been dismissed and read into the record and an armed robbery charge  would have been amended to theft.  During a hearing Tuesday Elmhdati told the judge he had decided against accepting the deal, and asked for a new attorney.  The judge granted his request.  A new trial date will be scheduled.  Elmhdati is accused of shooting another man in the leg outside the D&D Tavern near the corner of Division Street and Lincoln Avenue.  Police say the shooting was drug related.
