Keep your lawn mowed in Ripon or face potential fines. The Ripon Common Council this week approved a new ordinance that says grass on residential properties cannot be higher than six inches. The ordinance was approved four to three with mayor Gary Will casting the deciding vote. If the city receives a complaint residents will be given five days to mow their lawn or the city will hire a firm to mow the lawn and charge the property owner. Repeat offenses could result in fines.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
