A Powerball winner in Fond du Lac over the weekend. The winner in Saturday’s drawing matched 4 of 5 numbers plus the Powerball. Since they also purchased the Power Play prize multiplier feature, the $50,000 prize was automatically multiplied by two; turning the $50,000 ticket into a $100,000 winner. The numbers drawn were 1, 19, 31, 48, 61, PB-6 and PP-2X. Kwik Trip (980 S. Hickory Street) in Fond du Lac sold the winning ticket.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
