A Beaver Dam man who spit on a police officer and made threats towards him will spend the next four years in prison. 34-year-old Michael Nelson was also sentenced to seven years on supervision for the 2018 incident. Officers were called to a home where they found Nelson beating his fiancée. He was later convicted of Disorderly Conduct with a domestic abuse modifier for that incident. As he was being arrested, Nelson spat in the officer’s face and threatened to shoot all of the officers on scene. He was convicted of eight charges yesterday, two of which were felonies. After sentencing, District Attorney Kurt Klomberg stated, “Police Officers have a really hard job, where they put their lives on the line for the rest of us every day. Threats like those made by the Defendant cause Police Officers concern for their safety and the safety of their families and that is why we seek to punish those who threaten police officers sternly. The Officers involved in this incident acted with professionalism and great restraint despite the continuous abuse by the Defendant.”
