The Tobacco Control Program coordinator with the Fond du Lac County Public Health Office says news that doctors in Wisconsin have confirmed new cases of lung diseases in Wisconsin tied to vaping unfortunately doesn’t come as a surprise. Health officials have confirmed a total of 12 cases and are investigating 13 other cases. Patients range in age from teens to 30 years old and are from several counties including Dodge and Winnebago counties. Sandy Bernier says it shows that vaping is not harmless. Officials say the severity of the disease has varied among patients, with some needing assistance to breathe.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
