A ribbon cutting ceremony is being held this month for a new playground in Waupun designed for children with special needs. Kendra Terbeest and Naomi Beahm are parents of special needs children who helped launch a fundraising effort to make an all-abilities playground a reality. The playground is located at Rock River Intermediate School. Ter Beest tells WFDL news unlike a standard playground, the all-abilities playground provides features that make it accessible to everyone. Waupun Memorial Hospital and the Agnesian HealthCare Foundation stepped in with a combined $44,000 donation to help complete artificial turf footing on the playground. Last summer Waupun Memorial staff donated $2,500 to help support the efforts, along with many other generous community donors. A public ribbon cutting ceremony will be held at 3:30pm Monday, August 26.
