8-26-19 sprinkler system extinguishes fire at downtown fdl business

A sprinkler system is credited with preventing a fire from spreading in a downtown Fond du lac business.  Early Monday morning firefighters were called to the Top Shelf bar at 88 South Main Street  and found the sprinkler system flowing at one location.  The fire was quickly contained to the point of origin by the system.   Fire crews investigated for fire extension and nothing was found.  Fire crews shut down sprinkler system and began ventilation.  […]

8-26-19 woman critically injured in incident at waupun home

8-26-19 highway 23 public information meeting

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation is holding a public information meeting this week  on a Highway 23 resurfacing project  west  of  Fond du Lac.  The project will involving resurfacing Highway 23 from Townline Road to Rolling Meadows Drive,  and adding turn lanes at  Esterbrook Road and Rolling Meadows Drive.   The meeting is being held from 5pm to 7pm Wednesday August  28 at the Fond du lac County Airport.

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Gov. MADISON, Wis. (AP) — A rare bee not seen in Wisconsin in more than a century has turned up in the Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest.  U.S. Forest Service scientists found the bee in July while surveying pollinators as part of an inventory of native bees in the Great Lakes region. It costs less to live in Fond du Lac than most places in the country.   The 2019 second quarter Cost of Living Index  for Fond du Lac County has decreased slightly from first quarter and has remained below the national average.  The after-tax cost for a professional/managerial standard of living is 96.0 or 4.0% below the national average.  The composite index  for the Fond du Lac area is based on six different categories:  grocery items, […]

8-24-19 green lake food truck ordinance

The city of Green Lake is considering  a new food truck ordinance.  An ad hoc Economic Development Committee has recommended  an ordinance to the Green Lake City Council.  Back in July the council asked the committee to explore options and look at what other communities are doing.
