An Appleton man has been charged in connection with a high speed chase in Fond du Lac County. Ladonaven Brown made his initial Fond du Lac court appearance Wednesday. Bail was set at $5000 cash. Authorities say Brown led deputies on a 29 mile chase with speeds up to 107 miles an hour. The chase happened shortly after 8:30pm last Friday when traffic was busy, and deputies decided to terminate the chase after getting the suspect vehicle’s license plate number. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for September 20.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
