Fond du Lac Festivals has a new leader.   Pete Wilke has been hired as executive director and will begin his duties in October.  He replaces Madelynn Sprague who has accepted a job in the Fox Cities to be closer to her home.   As director, Wilke will be in charge of  Walleye Weekend,  Fond du Lac’s premier summer tourism attraction.  Wilke is a native of Eden and currently works at the Fond du Lac Area Convention and Visitors Bureau  (Destination Lake Winnebago Region).  “Wilke not  only brings with him event planning expertise, but the right skill set to bring  our organization to the next level,”  Fond du Lac Festivals President Terry Davis said.   After graduating college, he worked for a marketing  firm in Milwaukee creating and  managing high-profile events and marketing programs for multiple Fortune 500 companies.  Pete then moved back to the Fond du Lac area and joined the Fond du Lac Visitors Bureau (now known as Destination Lake Winnebago Region).  There, he helped build the Sturgeon Spectacular into a popular winter festival.   “Pete has been an awesome addition to our team and we look forward to his taking the helm at one of our community’s most impactful organizations, this is great news for Fond du Lac and the Lake Winnebago Region, ”  Visitors Bureau president Craig Molitor said.   Wilke now lives near Campbellsport with his wife, Amy and newborn son, Henry.
