The Fond du Lac School District superintendent says the District budget is benefitting from the state budget with low revenue relief and additional state aid. A public hearing was held at Monday night’s school board meeting. Superintendent Dr. Jim Sebert says the 2020 budget includes borrowing for the school building referendum approved by voters earlier this spring. Sebert says the mill rate for the proposed budget is lower than projected. The school board gave preliminary budget approval earlier this month. The board is scheduled to give final budget approval at the end of October.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
