Wisconsin’s Lieutenant Governor is celebrating National Clean Energy Week with a stop at a Fond du Lac County wind farm. Lieutenant Governor Mandela Barnes toured Alliant Energy’s Cedar Ridge Wind Farm in Eden Tuesday. The farm includes 41 wind turbines producing 68 megawatts of power. Barnes says its important to increase Wisconsin’s wind energy portfolio. Last month governor Evers announced the creation of the Office of Sustainability and Clean Energy to help implement his goal of ensuring all electricity in the state is 100 percent carbon free by 2050. Barnes told WFDL news he believes it’s a realistic goal.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
