The Fox Valley Workforce Development Board says it will assist workers when the Ripon Kmart store closes. The store is expected to close in December and currently employs around 40 mostly part-time workers. The Fox Valley Workforce Development Board says it will assist affected employees in their search for new employment. The Board says these workers may be eligible for assistance from the National Retail Worker Dislocation Grant, which can direct up to $30,000 to each laid off retail worker for retraining, housing and other support.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
