MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Wisconsin students' standardized test scores dropped in English and math last school year, and the average ACT score for 11th graders declined for the second year in a row.  That is based on results released Thursday by the state Department of Public Instruction.  Scores on tests measuring English, reading and writing skills have dropped 3.4 percentage points over the past three years. 9-13-19 fdl home declared unfit for human habitation

A Fond du Lac home has been declared unfit for human habitation.  Fond du Lac police and fire and rescue were called to a residence on South Hickory Street Wednesday for a strong smell of ammonia.  The caller thought it may be a meth lab.  Police found cat urine in the home.   The home has been declared unfit for human habitation until  it is cleared by the city building inspector.

The Fond du Lac County Health Department is encouraging residents to get their well  water tested.   During the month of September, the Health Department is offering bacteria and nitrate testing for $25.  Public Health Officer Kim Mueller says water is used for cooking, bathing, drinking, laundry, and other household activities and if your water is contaminated, you could become ill.  Mueller says wells can become contaminated at any time and routine […]
