9-24-19 vehicular homicide trial

A vehicular homicide trial for a North Fond du Lac man is underway in Fond du Lac County Circuit Court.  Travis Wollersheim is charged with two counts of homicide by negligent operation of a vehicle.    Wollersheim  is accused of rear-ending a car that had slowed  on Interstate 41 in a construction zone in Fond du lac in June 2016,  killing 26 year old David Button andhis eight year old son Joseph Button of Neenah.

9-24-19 fdl fire victims identified

Authorities have identified the victims of last week’s fatal fire at a Fond du Lac group home.  Fond du Lac Fire Chief Pete O’Leary  says the victims have been identified as 24 year old Taylor Lavallee, 53 year old Lisa Eastham and 72 year old Donna Frederick.  A preliminary investigation has determined the fire on South Military Road was accidental, caused by improperly discarded smoking materials.

9-24-19 appleton man charged in high speed chase bound over for trial

An Appleton man who led Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s deputies on a 29 mile long chase on Interstate 41 with speeds up to 107 miles an hour has been bound over for trial.  Ladonaven Brown waived his preliminary hearing Friday  in Fond du Lac County Circuit Court.  Sheriff’s captain Bill Tadych says deputies terminated the  September  6  chase after getting the suspect vehicle’s license plate number.  Brown is being held in the […]

9-24-19 fdl city council public safety referendum

The Fond du Lac city council may go to referendum to help pay for additional staffing for public safety.   Council president Brian Kolstad says the council will start evaluating fire and police staffing needs in January.  Kolstad says the council could decide next summer whether to put a referendum question on the 2020 presidential election ballot.  Kolstad says specific dollar amounts have not been discussed yet.  He says adding a million […]
