The Fond du Lac County Clerk says a new election security grant program will not have an impact in her office. The Wisconsin Elections Commission voted last week to approve grants to help communities using outdated and potentially insecure computer equipment to make upgrades before the 2020 election. Fond du Lac County Clerk Lisa Freiberg says the Fond du Lac County system is updated and secure. Freiberg says Fond du Lac County is compliant with baseline security standards. Priority will be given to local governments with the highest needs.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
