10-3-19 tornado confirmed in tuesday’s storms

todayOctober 3, 2019

The National Weather Service says wetter than normal rainfall over the past decade has made Wisconsin more susceptible to flooding.   Meteorologist John Gagan says when the water table is up and the ground is moist there is a lower tolerance when it comes to flooding.  “If you go to last summer, and all the tremendous rains that we had in August and again in September and October, that really set the stage for this coming year,”  Gagan told WFDL news.  “We really just haven’t had a break.”   This week thunderstorms with relentless rain flooded roads throughout southern Wisconsin.  Gagan says on top of the rain there were tornadoes, including an EF1 tornado near  the National Weather Service Office in Sullivan.
