Several awards were handed out for the 38th annual Business and Industry awards dinner at Marian University Wednesday evening. Holiday Automotive is this year’s Business of the Year, Louis Andrew Jr. receives The George Becker Business Spirit Award, Fond du Lac city and county government are recipients of the Community Collaboration Award, the EAA gets the Economic Development Award, The Entrepreneur of the Year is Eric Kurtev with Ala Roma, Backyard Grill and Schmitty’s Oar House and North Fond du Lac School superintendent Aaron Sadoff is the recipient of the Special Achievement Award. The awards dinner helps raise money for Marian student scholarships. Former Green Bay Packer and Senior Vice President for University Relations, George Koonce served as master of ceremonies.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
