The Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office was busy responding to several crashes on slippery snow covered roads Wednesday morning. The Sheriff’s Office says there were a total of 18 accidents, including four with injuries, and 17 vehicle run-offs. One of the crashes involved a Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s squad that was parked on the side of Interstate 41 while the deputy was assisting the state patrol at a crash scene.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
