A proposal to allow use of ATVs and UTVs on Waupun city streets is on hold to give residents more time to comment. The Waupun Common Council last week had the first reading of the ordinance. Economic Development director Kathy Schlieve says a final reading is scheduled for the December 10 council meeting. Waupun could be connected to the nearby Wild Goose Trail which is open to ATV use when the ground is frozen during the winter. Waupun could also limit use to certain streets or roads and not allow citywide access.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
