The Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office is still looking for the driver of a pickup truck involved in a short high speed chase in the city of Fond du Lac. The chase started shortly before 9:30pm Tuesday when a sheriff’s deputy attempted to stop a Ford F350 pickup truck that was driving recklessly while traveling east on W. Scott St near N. Brooke St. in the City of Fond du Lac. The pickup driver failed to stop and fled south on N. Military Rd at a high rate of speed. The operator lost control of the vehicle as it turned east onto W. Cotton St. The operator abandoned the vehicle and fled north from the scene. There were no reported injuries and no property damage as a result of the pursuit. The distance traveled was approximately one half mile. The City of Fond du Lac Police Department and the Wisconsin State Patrol assisted in attempting to locate the suspect after the pursuit. The Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office is actively investigating to confirm the identity of the operator for criminal charges.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
