The unemployment rate declined or stayed the same in all of Wisconsin’s 12 metro areas and 68 of Wisconsin’s 72 counties last month . In the city of Fond du Lac the October unemployment rate stands at 2.7 percent, down from 2.9 percent in September. The Fond du Lac County jobless rate dropped two tenths of a percent to 2.5 percent. The unemployment rate was down a tenth of a percent in Dodge County to 2.5 percent.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
