Fond du Lac Fire and Rescue is crediting a Good Samaritan with helping save two lives. Shortly before 5:30am Thursday rescue personnel were called to 315 East Merrill Avenue for a report of two males passed out on the sidewalk and not responding. An individual was driving on Merrill when she spotted two persons lying on the sidewalk. She stopped and called 911. FDL Paramedics arrived and treated both for drug overdose and for hypothermia. Both individuals were conscious when transported to St. Agnes Hospital.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
