MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Wisconsin Gov. Tony Evers says it's "astonishing" that Republicans want to fire his agriculture secretary.  Evers appointed Brad Pfaff to lead the agency in January, but the Senate has not voted to confirm him. LA CROSSE, Wis. 11-4-19 fdl salvation army shelter opens for season

The Fond du Lac Salvation Army Warming Shelter is officially open for the winter season.  The shelter opened Friday evening for its first night of operation this season.  Social Service Director Ron Jacobson says last year the shelter was open 151 nights serving 144 adults.   Clients were fed over four thousand meals and more than a thousand loads of laundry were done for clients.   The shelter will be open through April […]

11-4-19 beaver dam woman sentenced to prison in drug overdose death

A Beaver Dam woman is going to prison for the drug overdose death of a West Bend woman.  Forty year old Jackie Meyer has been sentenced to seven years in prison and 10 years extended supervision,  She pleaded guilty in August to first-degree reckless homicide. Authorities say she supplied the heroin and cocaine that led to the death of 40 year old Karen Sadowski in August of 2016.

11-1-19 jackknifed semi shuts down hwy 26 thursday night

Highway 26 in Fond du lac County was closed for several hours Thursday night after a  semi  jackknifed on black ice and ended up in the ditch.  The crash happened shortly before 8pm Thursday on  Highway 26 near Fremont Road blocking both lanes of traffic.  There was black ice reported on the Highway at the time.    Traffic was detoured and the highway was re-opened about six hours later.

11-1-19 gilles frozen custard carhop comes to the rescue

A carhop at a Fond du Lac fast food restaurant is credited with helping to save the life of a customer.    Gilles Frozen Custard on South Main Street posted on Facebook that Lily Casteneda-Bobadilla saved a man’s life while carhopping  last Saturday.  The post says an elderly gentleman was choking on his sandwich and Lily sprang into action, administered the Heimlich maneuver and saved his life.   Fond du Lac Fire Chief Pete O’Leary says it’s […]
