11-18-19 large deer poaching case in southwest wi

MILWAUKEE (AP) — Authorities say a monthslong investigation into a large deer poaching case in southwestern Wisconsin has resulted in the conviction of five men.  State Department of Natural Resources officials estimate that as many as 40 deer were killed before the suspects were arrested. 11-18-19 kohler company closing engines assembly line in january

Kohler Company says one of its engines division assembly lines is moving to Mississippi, affecting 90 workers.   Kohler first announced last year it would permanently relocate one of its assembly lines for gas-powered engines and notified the state this week  that will happen on January 12 next year.  The company told the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development it's been trying to find jobs within the company for affected workers ever since that 2018 announcement.  […]

The Waupun Common Council has approved a 2020 budget.  Economic Development director Kathy Schlieve says the $7.15 million budget includes a 3.25 percent increase in the tax levy.  Schlieve says the city’s debt strategy changed last year  to meet several challenges including roads and infrastructure.  Schlieve says spending was down in all but two areas, pool maintenance and the Fire Department.  Schlieve says there are some increased costs to maintain the pool, […]

MILWAUKEE (AP) — A 61-year-old man accused of throwing acid on a Latino man’s face during a racist attack will undergo a psychiatric evaluation to determine whether he can assist in his criminal defense.  Clifton Blackwell’s lawyer asked for the evaluation during a Friday hearing in Milwaukee.
