A North Fond du Lac man convicted of sexually assaulting a child will spend the rest of his life in prison. Fond du Lac judge Dale English has sentenced 58 year old Ronald Shingleton to a total of 90 years in prison with 30 years of extended supervision on three counts of first degree sexual assault of a child. A ten year prison sentence will run concurrent on a charge of incest with a child. According to a criminal complaint Shingleton sexually assaulted a 10 year old girl multiple times, telling the child it was punishment.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
