12-19-19 league of women voters-federal lawsuit

todayDecember 19, 2019

The executive director of the League of Women Voters of Wisconsin says she is confident a lawsuit that seeks to stop a Wisconsin voter purge will be successful.    League director Erin Grunze says the federal lawsuit argues it would be an unconstitutional violation of due process rights to deactivate the registrations of voters without proper notice.   “The letter that was sent to these 234,000 plus voters didn’t give notice of what action would be taken and the timeline that it would be taken,”  Grunze told WFDL news.  Grunze says people who have not moved were improperly flagged and could be removed.   The League is asking a federal court to bar any deactivation until those voters are notified.
