The Fond du Lac County Register of Deeds says effective the first of the year it will be easier to obtain a copy of your marriage certificate. Register of Deeds, Jim Krebs, says effective January 2, individuals married in Wisconsin will be able to go to any Wisconsin Register of Deeds office to obtain their marriage certificate. Krebs says its part of a broader goal of providing statewide access to all eligible vital records including, birth, death, marriage, and divorce certificates. Register of Deeds officers are currently able to issue birth certificates from all Wisconsin counties.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
