Santa’s elves in the Fond du Lac Police Department helped to make Christmas special for over 75 families in the Fond du Lac Community. The department’s “Adopt a Family” program has been going on for over 15 years, in partnership with the Cops for Kids organization and many local businesses. The police department says around 75 families received meals through the program this year, with another 250 children receiving gifts this holiday season. Holiday Automotive, Odyssey Fond du Lac 8, Coliseum Sports Bar & Grill, Festival Foods, Fleet Farm, Attitude Sports, City of Fond du Lac – Municipal Government, and the Fond du Lac School District Recreation Department all helped with this years program.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
