The Fond du Lac Area United Way is making a last minute plea for donations as the annual fundraising campaign nears an end. United Way executive director Amber Kilawee says the fund drive is at 70 percent of the $770,000 goal. Kilawee says the donations are extremely important for all of the member agencies.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
