Fond du Lac city officials hope 2020 is a big year for the city’s lead service line replacement program. Public Works director Jordan Skiff says the city council voted last year in favor of amending the city’s ordinance to allow water utility fund dollars be used when the Safe Drinking Water loan program expires. “Hopefully this will be a good year establishing how that program is going to look heading into the future once we get PSC approval,” Skiff told WFDL news. Skiff says there are about 3,000 homes in Fond du Lac with lead service lines.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
