A Fond du Lac infant was transported to the hospital this week after he was attacked by the family pet dog.   The incident happened Sunday evening at a residence on Cedar Street.   Police say the parents were able to get the dog off the 11 month old boy and provided pressure to the wounds on the child’s face before paramedics arrived.  The boy was transported to Children’s Hospital in Madison.  The dog was quarantined at […]

1-8-20 fdl man sentenced to life in prison for murder of beaver dam man

Fond du Lac’s Agnesian HealthCare and its physician group will pay $10 million to the federal government and the state of  Wisconsin to settle a whistleblower case.   The case was  brought by orthopedic surgeon Doctor Clark Searle who alleged the hospital paid doctors kickbacks and other financial incentives to get patient referrals.   The lawsuit contends Agnesian defrauded government-funded health care programs  by compensating doctors who brought in more business.   Agnesian […]

1-7-20 state department of corrections continues investigation into inmate attack of correctional officer at waupun prison

The investigation into an attack of a Correctional Officer at the Waupun Correctional Institution on Christmas Eve continues.   Sources tell WFDL news the officer was stabbed in the face, neck and abdomen with a piece of metal and transported to the hospital.  He was later transferred to U-W Hospital in Madison with what sources say were initially described as potentially life-threatening injuries.  He has since been treated and released.   The inmate, […]

RHINELANDER, Wis. (AP) — Sheriff's officials have identified the snowmobilers who died in an Oneida County lake. Two snowmobilers died and a third survived after their sleds hit open water on Lake Nokomis about 3 a.m. Sunday.
