The city of Fond du Lac has received a state grant for new walking trails through McDermott Park.  The $50,000 grant through the Knowles-Nelson Stewardship program will be used to build multi-use asphalt trails which will run from the southwest corner on Merrill Avenue, along the tennis courts, splitting into two branches near the center of the park. The Fond du Lac Area United Way is making a last minute plea for donations as the annual fundraising campaign nears an end.   United Way executive director Amber Kilawee says the fund drive is at 70 percent of the $770,000 goal.  Kilawee says the donations are extremely important for all of the member agencies.
