1-3-20 fdl gas leak quickly repaired

A gas leak Thursday afternoon at a Fond du Lac apartment complex was quickly brought under control.    Shortly before 2pm Thursday Fond du Lac fire crews were called to the River Hills apartment complex on South Main Street after a construction crew accidentally struck a gas main.   The three story apartment complex is under construction.  Alliant Energy was called to the scene to repair the leak.

1-2-20 no injuries reported in fdl shooting incident

Nobody was injured in a shooting incident in Fond du Lac on New Year’s morning.  Shortly after 6:30am Wednesday Fond du Lac police received several 911 calls of shots fired in the 100 block of Hamilton Place.    Initial responding officers  heard gunshots while arriving on scene.     The Police SWAT and Crisis Negotiations teams were activated and determined  that two males and one female were inside the residence.  At 11:40 am, all three subjects came out […]

The Fond du Lac County Register of Deeds says effective the first of the year it will be easier to obtain a copy of your marriage certificate.   Register of Deeds, Jim Krebs, says effective January 2, individuals married in Wisconsin will be able to go to any Wisconsin Register of Deeds office to obtain their marriage certificate.  Krebs says its part of a broader goal of providing statewide access to all eligible vital records […]

1-2-20 wisconsin economic development impact

The Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation has released its list of  Wisconsin’s biggest economic development deals of 2019.   WEDC assisted 289 businesses and communities, 16 industries, totaling more than $250 million in awards.   One of the projects is a $24 million expansion project at Deer and Company in Horicon.   WEDC provided $250,000 in tax credits.   WEDC says the project created an estimated 12 jobs and helped retain 768 jobs.

1-2-20 firefighting foam

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Some Wisconsin fire departments have stopped using firefighting foam that contains a group of man-made chemicals that have been linked to increased cholesterol and cancer risk, among other health hazards. The Wisconsin Public Radio reports the Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances contaminate the state's groundwater and waterways, and are also found in products like nonstick pans. In mid-December, the Madison Fire Department switched to fluorine-free foam.
