The Fond du Lac County Dairy and Livestock extension agent says a new trade deal signed last week by president Donald Trump is good news for Wisconsin dairy farmers. Tina Kohlman says hopefully the new deal will give some relief to dairy farmers and the ag community in general. “Opening up some trade restrictions that were there in the past, and giving some more opportunities to export their milk and giving some relief for the product they’re producing,” Kolhman told WFDL news. Kohlman says while it won’t solve problems facing dairy farmers overnight, it is still reason to celebrate.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
