2-4-20 drugged driving

todayFebruary 4, 2020

A Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s captain says he’s not surprised at the findings of  a AAA study that shows fatal crashes involving drivers who test positive for marijuana increased after the state of Washington legalized the drug.  Sheriff’s captain Bill Tadych says he expects those numbers to continue to increase. Tadych says research shows the negative effects of marijuana on drivers, and the use of alcohol with marijuana makes drivers more impaired.  Even those recreational marijuana is not legal in Wisconsin, Tadych says the Sheriff’s Office frequently issues citations for drugged driving involving marijuana use.   “I was just speaking with the road sergeant this morning and one of our drug recognition experts was going to one of the schools and pulled over a speeder and lo and behold we’ve got a drugged driver,”  Tadych told WFDL news.  After alcohol, marijuana is the drug most often found in the blood of drivers involved in crashes.
