2-13-20 fdl county emergency management encourages residents to prepare for potential spring flooding

With two major flooding events last year and several major floods over the past decade, Fond du Lac County Emergency Management is warning residents to be prepared for spring flooding.   Fond du Lac County Emergency Management director Bobbie Hicken says last year there were major floods March 14 and October 1 and 2020 has the potential to bring more.  Hicken says make sure items in your basement are safely stored in case it floods.  Last year’s events forced dozens of residents to evacuate and Hicken says that’s why its important to have a plan and communicate with family and friends where your will go  if you need to leave your house.  Hicken says her office also recommends residents obtain flood insurance.   For more information go to floodsmart.gov.
