A Beaver Dam man convicted in a domestic incident and crashing his car into a middle school is going to prison. Dodge County Circuit judge Brian Pfitzinger sentenced 22 year old Roy Cortez to two years eight months in prison and three years extended supervision. Last August following a domestic incident Cortez was involved in a short high speed chase and slammed his vehicle into the Beaver Dam Middle School causing more than $2 million in damage. Nobody was injured.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
