A portion of West Division Street in Fond du Lac is closed for a couple of days starting Wednesday. Fond du Lac Public Works says West Division Street west of Brooke Street is closed Wednesday and Thursday to allow a contractor to complete soil borings for a future project. Meanwhile, the railroad crossing at Grove Street has reopened to traffic. The crossing was temporarily closed Tuesday to allow Canadian National Railroad to replace the rail at the crossing.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
