A Fond du Lac man has been charged in what police describe as the largest methamphetamine bust ever in the city of Fond du Lac. Bail was set at $300,000 cash for 35 year old Adrian Irby on six counts including possession with intent to deliver methamphetamine. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for March 6. According to a criminal complaint police confiscated more than three pounds of meth valued at more than $148,000 during a traffic stop on Interstate 41 in Fond du Lac February 19. Police also recovered a loaded handgun. Police believe the drugs were being shipped from Mississippi. Police earlier confiscated meth from an apartment at 868 Martin Avenue.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
