2-27-20 fdl police accreditation

todayFebruary 27, 2020

The Fond du Lac Police Chief says few if any achievements can compare to the overall significance and magnitude of receiving accredited status.   The Department was notified Friday by the Wisconsin Law Enforcement Accreditation Group Governing Board that the Department was in compliance with all 218 accreditation standards.   Chief Bill Lamb says those standards cover policies, procedures, standards, training, administration and operations.  “When you can prove to yourself and subsequently your community that in every single one of those areas you are meeting that gold-standard of excellence, that’s why it means so much to those of use in the organization, and I’m quite certain it means that much to the public who pays close attention to these types of things,”  Lamb told WFDL news.   Lamb says the Fond du Lac Police Department is only the 38th of more than 560 law enforcement agencies in the state to achieve accredited status.  Lamb reported on the accreditation at Wednesday night’s city council meeting.
