The Dodge County Sheriff says he hopes people don’t politicize the mass shooting in Milwaukee this week that claimed the lives of six people including the gunman. Authorities say an employee at Molson Coors opened fire Wednesday killing five employees before turning the gun on himself. Dodge County Sheriff Dale Schmidt says the real issue that needs to be addressed is not about guns, but rather mental health. “I really hope nobody tries to politicize this and make it about firearms,” Schmidt told WFDL news. “It is about a totally different issue and it isn’t about weapons at all. It really boils down to mental health and the crisis we have in this country with mental health and that’s where we need to focus our efforts.”

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
