Fond du Lac police continue to investigate a suspicious incident that was reported near the UW Oshkosh-Fond du Lac campus Thursday afternoon, but so far have been able to corroborate what the witness said he saw. Assistant police chief Steve Klein says a caller told police he thought he saw a man in the back seat of a car parked on Campus Drive holding a gun to a woman’s head. Klein says when police arrived moments later they could not find the suspect vehicle. “We actually had an officer that was pretty close by. He arrived in the area shortly after, was unable to locate anything. We swarmed that area with numerous officers, all available officers, checked the parking lots throughout that area and were not able to locate a vehicle matching that description,” Klein told WFDL news. Klein says while he doesn’t doubt the witness saw something, the object the caller thought was a gun may have been something else. “That was the only call we received on that incident. We have not had anybody reported as missing,” Klein said. “We have no reason to doubt what the caller saw, we have just not been able to corroborate it. There perhaps may be something else that the subject was holding.” Anyone with information is asked to call police.
