A Waupun man convicted in connection with a fatal crash that occurred more than three years ago will spend time behind bars. Fond du Lac judge Robert Wirtz sentenced 60 year old James Jensen to 18 months in the county jail and six years probation. Jensen earlier pleaded no contest to homicide by negligient operation of a motor vehicle. Before he was sentenced a tearful Jensen apologized to the family of the victim saying he was truly sorry for what happened and said he has prayed for them every day since the accident and will continue to do so for the rest of his life. Jensen was the driver of a car that collided head on with another vehicle on Highway AW near Waupun in November 2016. Twenty three year old Brock Hoekstra of Waupun was killed in the crash. He was a passenger in a car driven by his mother, Debra Hoekstra of Waupun. A second passenger in the car, 17 year old Austin Burckhardt of Waupun received serious injuries in the crash. Jensen was also seriously injured.
