The Dodge County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate the death of a Lomira toddler. Sheriff Dale Schmidt says the three year old boy was found dead Friday evening at a residence at 725 Railroad Street in Lomira. Schmidt says the Sheriff’s Office is conducting a joint investigation with Lomira Police, the state patrol and Wisconsin State Crime Lab. “It’s a delicate situation just because it’s a small child,” Schmidt told WFDL news. “That always adds to the anxiety and certainly we’re doing everything we can to get all the facts as far as what happened. As we are able and not before we will release more information.”

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
