The Fond du Lac County Public Health Officer says there are now 11 confirmed cases of coronavirus in Fond du Lac County. Kim Mueller says test results received over the weekend showed five more people connected to an Egyption Cruise ship tested positive for the virus. Twenty five people tested negative. On Friday the state Department of Health Services reported four new cases in Fond du lac County in addition to the first two cases. Mueller says some of the people on the cruise attended events locally before the first cases of coronavirus were confirmed this were. Mueller says the effort is to try to contain further spread of the virus in the community. “We are working through the process when it comes to pandemic planning, we have plans and processes in place,” Mueller told WFDL news. “Right now we are at the control and mitigating phase.” Meanwhile, three cases have been reported in Sheboygan County. Fond du Lac Saint Agnes Hospital president Katherine Vergos says the hospital is prepared for an outbreak and the potential for handling more patients. Vergos says through social distancing and limiting gatherings it gives the ability to not eliminate, but reduce exposure to the virus.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
