3-16-20 fdl county sheriff’s captain says fatal crash is a tragic reminder of the responsibility when you get behind the wheel

A Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s captain says a fatal traffic crash more than four years ago is a reminder of the great responsibility you have when you get behind the wheel of a car.   Sixty year old James Jensen was sentenced this month to a year and a half in jail after earlier pleading no contest to negligient operation of a motor vehicle.  He was the driver of a car that collided head on with another vehicle near Waupun in November 2016, killing a passenger in the other car.  Sheriff’s captain Bill Tadych says while he is sure Jensen is remorseful for his actions, that unfortunately will never bring back the victim.   “Once you make the decision to get behind the wheel it’s like pulling the trigger on a gun.  You can’t pull that bullet back,”  Tadych told WFDL news.  “It’s something he’s (Jensen) going to live with the rest of his life.  I have no doubt he is very sympathetic toward the family and hopefully that gives some consolation to the family.  But they’ve lost their son…bottom line.”
