Eden native Jacob Miller admits up until his audition he had never watched the television reality music show  “The Voice.”    The 29 year old Miller has been singing and playing the guitar going back to high school in Fond du Lac and later in a band in Portland, Oregon.   Last year he released a solo album the caught the attention of a producer from “The Voice.”    Miller says he auditioned and the producer said they would let him know in about a month if they were interested.  “I had honestly kind of forgotten about the whole process because about a month later I was actually in Fond du Lac about to start a month-long solo tour and I got a call, we’re interested in flying you out and the rest is history,”  Miller told WFDL news.   So finally the big day came.  Miller says he was actually more nervous waiting during the day  than the performance itself.   Miller performed Bob Dylan’s  “The Times They Are A Changin.”   He says it felt good to hear the praise from the judges, especially since his style of music isn’t the typical pop music that’s more common on that type of show.   “It was cool to have them seemingly enjoy what I was doing.  To bring my style and voice, which is pretty less conventional than a lot of things they normally have on those programs,”  Miller said.  In  the end Miller chose Nick Jonas to be his coach, much to the surprise of some of his friends, who asked why he didn’t pick Blake Shelton?  “I think with Nick, he’s new to the show this year and so I’m assuming he’s going to have a lot to prove as far as being involved with his team, bringing probably a lot of his fans to the show too,”  Miller said.   More competitions are ahead in “The Voice.”   The show has not said which episode Miller will be in.   This summer Miller says he is returning to the Midwest, including Wisconsin for a tour.
