MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Wisconsin’s attorney general is warning people to be on the lookout for scams and price-gouging connected to the new coronavirus. Josh Kaul said Monday that the state Department of Justice has been hearing about emails from scammers claiming to be from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the World Health Organization. Kaul also warns to beware of any claims about a vaccine or cure and be careful about making donations. He pointed out that Gov. Tony Evers’ order declaring a state of emergency last week prohibits price-gouging.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
