The Fond du Lac County Clerk says demand locally has been high for absentee ballots and the number of people voting absentee for the spring election. “Oh yeah, it’s crazy busy,” County Clerk Lisa Freiberg, told WFDL news. Freiberg says residents are encouraged to vote absentee in hopes of slowing spread of the new coronavirus. “We are seeing a lot of mail requests. We are seeing in-person, which is good also. It got a little busy yesterday at the city clerk’s office, but people are pretty good about staying away from each other,” Freiberg said.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
